Old Town is where San Diego started, and the Midway District next door is where a lot of its shopping and events happen. A car locksmith in Old Town or the Midway District works in state park lots, at a transit center, outside the arena, and in big-box lots along Sports Arena Boulevard. We come to all of it and do the work at the car, so there is no tow and no waiting for a shop to open.
The two areas meet where Interstate 5 crosses Interstate 8, which is also how we get to both. Old Town brings tourists and diners, a few lost keys on Congress Street, and commuters at the transit center who come back to a dead fob. Midway brings event crowds at Pechanga Arena, shoppers who lock keys in the trunk, and older cars in the swap meet lots with locks that give out.
For us Old Town is the state historic park and the blocks around it: San Diego Avenue, Congress Street, the transit center on the Interstate 5 side, and Presidio Park on the hill above. Midway is the flat ground between Old Town and Point Loma, with Sports Arena Boulevard and Rosecrans Street as its main roads, Pechanga Arena at the center, the big-box centers around it, and the Midway Drive apartment blocks toward the airport. Where Interstate 5 crosses Interstate 8 is the seam between them. We work in the park lots, the transit lot, curbside on Congress, the arena lots and the shopping lots along Sports Arena Boulevard.
The car has sat in the Old Town Transit Center lot since the morning Coaster, and by the last train back the fob does nothing. The battery is the hope and sometimes it is the answer; when it is not, the fob is done. We test it at the car, program a new one if needed, and you drive home from the lot.
The lot is emptying, the car is where you left it, and the key is inside on the seat with the merch. The lights are on and the crowd is thinning. We come in off Sports Arena Boulevard once the traffic moves, open the car without a mark, and you head out with the last of the crowd.
An older car, a worn key, and one hard turn in the door lock outside a big-box store. Half the key is in your hand and half is in the lock. We come to the space, pull the piece without harming the cylinder, cut a new key on the spot, and program it if the car needs a chipped one.
Tell us Old Town or Midway first. In Old Town, name the lot: the park lots off Taylor or Juan Street, the transit center, or the block of Congress Street you found a space on. In Midway, the store you are parked outside, or for the arena, the lot entrance and the nearest light pole. On show nights we come in from a side street once the main lots start moving. The park lots are quiet after the restaurants close, so stay with the car and keep the hazards on.
The places locals call from most, and what usually goes wrong there.
Old Town and Midway give us car lockouts in the park lots and the big-box lots, key fob programming for commuters at the transit center, and car key replacement after a key was lost at dinner or a show. We handle broken key extraction on older cars in the swap meet lots and transponder keys when a copied key opens the door and nothing more.

How it worksYes. The lot is open and easy to find. Tell us the row and the color of the car, and we come to the space. Most calls from there are fobs that quit while the car sat all day.
We do. After a show the streets take time to clear; we tell you what to expect when you call. Stay with the car, give us the lot entrance and the nearest light pole, and keep your phone on.
Ask at the visitor center in case it was turned in. If it has not been, we cut and program a new key in the lot with your ID and proof of ownership, so you are not waiting on it. See car key replacement.
Call or text and tell us where the car is. We come to you anywhere in Coronado and across San Diego, 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM, every day.
