Mobile car lockouts, key replacement and fob programming in Imperial Beach, 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM, every day.
Every day, 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM
Imperial Beach sits at the bottom of the Silver Strand and we sit at the top, so it is one road between us. That makes us a natural car locksmith in Imperial Beach: we come straight down State Route 75 from Coronado and do the job at your car, at the pier, on Seacoast Drive, or in the driveway at Navy housing.
IB is a beach town first. Keys go into the sand at the pier and into the water at the estuary. Fobs stop working after a salty day. Navy families in the housing tracts need spare keys for a second driver, or a fob programmed after one was lost on deployment. We see all of it, and we handle it on site.
Imperial Beach for us runs from the Silver Strand down to the Tijuana River estuary. Seacoast Drive is the beachfront, with the pier at Portwood Pier Plaza and the restaurants and rentals on either side. Palm Avenue carries State Route 75 through town, Imperial Beach Boulevard and 13th Street cross it, Bayside lies toward the bay, and the Navy housing tracts fill the blocks between the beach and the outlying field. We come to the pier lot and the streets behind it, driveways in housing, the estuary trailheads, the strip lots along Palm Avenue, and the day lots and campground at Silver Strand.
Fine sand and salt spray get into a fob at the pier, and it does not have to go in the water to stop working. It gets weaker through the afternoon and by the time you walk back to the lot on Seacoast Drive, nothing. We test it, program a replacement to the car in the lot, and the car starts as it should.
Cars that live on Seacoast Drive face the ocean every day, and door locks stiffen until a key breaks in them. The stub is flush with the lock and there is nothing to grip. We come to the space, pull the piece without damaging the cylinder, cut a new key, and program it if your car needs a chipped one.
Sailors in the housing tracts buy and sell cars among themselves, and the car often changes hands with a single chipped key and a plain copy that opens the door and nothing else. We program a proper transponder key in your driveway, and the plain copy still works as a door key if you want to keep it. Bring the title or the bill of sale.
Most people meet us on Seacoast Drive, in the pier lot at Portwood Pier Plaza or on the streets that run inland from it, so give us the cross street and the side. On a warm weekend the pier lot is full and the overflow spreads several blocks; after dark the beach end of those streets is dim. In housing, the house number matters more than the street name. At the estuary, name the trailhead. At Silver Strand State Beach we check in at the kiosk, and the day-use lots lock at dusk, so call before the light goes.
The places locals call from most, and what usually goes wrong there.
The calls from IB are car lockouts at the beach, car key replacement for keys lost in the sand, and key fob programming after the ocean got to the fob. We program transponder keys, pull broken keys out of locks the salt has stiffened, and cut spare car keys for households with more than one driver and only one key.
